Parañaque City Kicks-off Brigada Eskwela 2017

The Schools Division of Parañaque City joined the launching of this year’s Brigada Eskwela with the theme: “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan” on May 15, 2017.
The Brigada Eskwela has become one of the initiatives that DepEd enjoins local communities to respond to the needs of public schools and be part of a nationwide effort towards improving Philippine basic education.
The activity started with a parade from the Kabihasnan street and passing through the streets of Tramo and Bonifacio.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Parañaque City Division kicked-off the program at Parañaque Elementary School Central (PES-C) with the support of students/pupils, teachers, schools division officials, school heads, parents, community members, local government officials, non-government organizations, church groups, stakeholders and the private sector.
The kick-off ceremony is part of the week-long cleaning-up and beautification exercise that started on May 15 to May 20 in the different schools in the city.

Dr. Margarito B. Materum, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, shared the purpose of the program and highlighted the importance of the stakeholders in the preparation and provision of safe and clean learning spaces for the students/pupils.
Dr. Josefino C. Pogoy Jr., Education Program Specialist II, HRDD NEAP-NCR, was grateful for the overwhelming support given by the stakeholders and volunteers. He also cited the importance of bayanihan spirit and camaraderie among stakeholders.
Meanwhile, SGOD Chief Dr. Marilyn B. Timtiman and CID Chief Bernardo N. Mascariña together with Dr. Pogoy led the symbolic releasing of tilapia fingerlings in the fish pond and hydroponics of PES Central. School Heads and other Officials from the Schools Division Office (SDO) were also present during the activity.
