In terms of education amidst COVID-19 pandemic, no learner will be left behind for the Schools Division of Parañaque with the cellphone drive division initiative.
The Learner’s Enrollment Survey Form (LESF) conducted by the Research and Planning office baring a rough estimate of 20 to 25 percent or 19,200 to 24,000 of the learners who do not have cellphones sparked the idea of the drive for the schools to succeed under the new learning modality.
Schools Division Superintendent Evangeline P. Ladines leads the drive which calls for collaboration, support, and commitment of education stakeholders particularly the homeowners’ associations, barangay officials, and nongovernment organizations as indispensable to bridge the gap in the learning resources of the learners coming from various socio-economic background.
In meetings which Dr. Ladines conducted on June 9 and 11, the process flows for the Stakeholder’s Convergence and Cellphone Acquisition were crafted by the participants composed of Dr. Bernardo N. Mascariña, Dr. Marilyn B. Timtiman, Dr. Arlyn M. Brigola, Dr. Corazon A. Javier, Maximino M. Santos Jr., and Leah Sudsakorn. “We need to be transparent to our stakeholders so they be guided and they have the knowledge as to how and where their donated cellphones go,” Dr. Ladines said.
The following is the process flow for the stakeholder’s convergence: First, identify the homeowners association, officers and barangay officials within Parañaque; second, send advocacy campaign and invitation letter to different HOA officers and barangay officials; third, online pre-registration to the event; fourth, conduct of stakeholder’s convergence; fifth, follow-up meeting with stakeholders and recognition of pledges; and sixth, acquisition of old/brand new smartphones for learners. The schools shall conduct a parallel school-based stakeholder’s convergence among their alumni.
Meanwhile, the cellphone acquisition flow includes the following: First, donors inform the Division Partnership Focal Person on the cellphone donation details; second, donors send cellphone to the supply officer of the division office; third, issuance of deed of donation and deed of acceptance; fourth, distribution of cellphones to identified beneficiaries; fifth, issuance of cellphone acknowledgment receipt; and sixth, issuance of certificate of appreciation to donors.
The formal launching of the Donate-a Cellphone Drive dubbed as “Sama-Sama sa Edukalidad” (1st Virtual Stakeholders Convergence) will be held on July 15 to be participated in by the homeowners associations of Parañaque, barangay officials, SDO officials, some Rotarians and Lions club members.
