In support to the Distance Learning (DL) through modular instruction adapted by the Schools Division of Parañaque for S.Y. 2020-2020, Local School Board (LSB) chair Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez approved the proposed projects presented by Schools Division Superintendent Evangeline P. Ladines, LSB co-chair, during the LSB meeting on June 11, 2020.

Mayor Olivarez disclosed his commitment to accessible and quality education in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. “We shall ease up the difficulty of the teachers and families as they cope with the new kind of learning environment,” he remarked.

The four proposed projects approved were the following:

  1. Provision of printing machines and consumables which could be used to reproduce the self-learning modules developed by the teacher-writers,
  2. Provision of 1,500 laptops to be given to 50 percent of the total number of teachers of the division,
  3. Provision of 9,000 tablets including software installation for the Grade 1 and Kinder learners, and
  4. Widening of Wi-Fi hotspots in some areas of Parañaque City to cater both the teachers and the learners in the DL through modular instruction.

Superintendent Ladines expressed her gratitude to the LSB chair for prioritizing the needs of the schools so that education still continues despite the pandemic. (By Rodel A. Apostol)
